This Dainty Daisies Blanket and hat have been crocheted from DK cotton yarn (USA light worsted) (AUS 8 ply) yarn. This pattern may also be crocheted in acrylic yarn too.
Stylecraft Classic cotton DK has been used in this example.

The squares are sewn together through the back loops, which creates a nice flat seam.
Two different granny squares shown with photo tutorial for each.
Sizes
Hat - comes with 7 sizes from Dolly - Teen
Blanket - 22 x 22" suitable for Moses basket, stroller and car seat, but can be adjusted and made to any size to fit your requirements by adding more or less granny squares (if making it larger, more yarn will be needed).
